What is a hatelisting?

Don’t know what a hatelisting is? The concept is based on fanlistings. A fanlisting is a listing of people who are a fan of a certain subject, therefore, a hatelisting is a listing of people who hate a certain subject.

What is Hatelistings.Net?

Hatelistings.Net is a network listing all hatelistings that members have created. It is sort of a site directory where you can find all existing hatelistings.

Where do I start if I want to build a hatelisting?

First, you will need a host, if you don’t have a website, you can always use a freesite like Freewebs.com or Geocities. You will also need a working email address. Second, you have to make sure that the hatelisting you wish to build isn’t already taken. To do that, head over to our page with all listed hatelistings, pick the category the hatelisting would be in and see if it’s already listed. Subjects in grey, without a link, means it has been applied for and is currently being built. You cannot apply for a hatelisting that is already listed or upcoming. Before you start building a hatelisting, please read the rules and make sure you follow every single one of them if you want your hatelisting to be listed on The Hatelistings Network. If you don’t follow the rules while building your hatelisting, we won’t list it until all rules have been followed. If something is missing, we will let you know so you can rectify the problem and be listed.

Once you have made sure the subject isn’t already listed and are ready, you can apply to run the hatelisting by entering all the information that we need to process your application. You will either receive an approval or rejection email. If you’ve been approved, you can then start building your hatelisting! You will have four weeks to build your hatelisting.

Does it cost anything to be listed on The Hatelistings Network?

No. Everything on The Hatelistings Network is free of charge.

What should I put on my hatelisting?

You will need a join form for members to join and a members page to list all your members. You can also add content about the subject of your hatelisting. Members like displaying code images (buttons) of what listings they’ve joined so you can add a codes page with image codes for them. Typical sizes for buttons/codes are 50×50, 75×50, 88×31, 100×35 and 100×50 (width x height). A rules page with requierements to follow to join your hatelisting (please refer to the rules page to make sure your rules do not hold any discrimination if you are going to add rules to your hatelisting). Some people also add extras to their hatelisting, like affiliates, links about the subject, images, etc. You can basically add anything you like, as long as it follow our simple rules.

What do I do when I’m done?

After making sure your hatelisting follows all of our rules, you can submit a finished form. A staff member will go through your hatelisting to make sure everything is in order before processing it and listing it on the network. You will receive an email confirmation once your hatelisting has been added to the network.

Once I’m listed, what happens?

Just make sure that your information is always up to date (email, url, etc). Keep following the rules listed on our rules page to stay off the troubles list.

What is the troubles list?

The troubles list is a page where we list all the hatelistings that have broken Hatelistings Network rules. If your hatelisting ends up on the troubles list, you will receive an email notification letting you know your hatelisting has been placed on the troubles list. We will give you the reason why it has been placed on the troubles list so you can rectify the problem. You will also have a deadline to fix the problem. Once the problem has been fixed, you must email the staffer back to let them know that the problem has been fixed and your hatelisting can be taken off the troubles list. If you decide not to rectify the problem, once the deadline has been reached, your hatelisting will be removed from the network and you will have to apply if you ever want to run it again (if somebody hasn’t applied for it before you did).

What if I get tired of my hatelisting and don’t want it anymore?

You have two options, you can put it up for adoption so another member can take over or you can close it. To put it up for adoption, you can announce it on the Message Board, on your site, by contacting members, any way you want. You can also have it listed on our adoption page by entering all the information we need. You will then receive an email to confirm your decision, and then the hatelisting will be listed on our adoption page.

Otherwise, if you decide to simply close your hatelisting, simply go to the owner area and send in a closed form so that your hatelisting can be removed from the network. Once your hatelisting has been removed from the network, you will receive an email notification letting you know that it has been removed.

What if I have a question?

You can head over to the message board and search the sections to see if your question has already been answered. If it hasn’t, you can ask your question in the designated section. Or you can also contact us by using the contact form.
