Rules
If you’re considering applying for a hatelisting, be sure to follow these simple guidelines. By not following these rules, you risk getting rejected for an application or being put on the troubles list.
Applying
- You must show you have HTML and graphics experience by providing an existing URL.
- Groups like Yahoo, MSN, MySpace, Xanga, LiveJournal, etc, to show “experience” will not be accepted.
- You must give a valid and working email address, we will use it to come in contact with you.
- Use your real name or a nickname if you prefer, but we will not tolerate numbers in your name.
- If you use a freesite like Geocities, Freewebs.com, etc, a staff member might decline your application if they judge the site itself does not show much HTML and graphics knowledge.
- You can’t apply for a subject that is already listed or upcoming.
- You can only have 3 pending/upcoming hatelistings at any given time. Meanwhile, there is no limit to how many hatelistings you can have on the network.
- We will not accept hatelistings for webmasters.
- For the websites category, we will not accept hatelistings for personal websites. They have to be known, “public” websites.
- For the places category, we will not accept hatelistings for countries/nations/cities, etc.
Creating and maintaining
- You must provide a link back to The Hatelistings Network, you can use the codes we provided on the Link to THL page.
- You have 4 weeks to build your hatelisting.
- Redirection URLs like CJB.net or .TK will not be accepted.
- Your fanlisting must be viewable by everyone (some freesites might be declined).
- You may create your hatelisting in a language other than english but there must be an english version.
- The only required items in your join form of your hatelisting should be a name and a country. You cannot require anything other than the basic items (name, email, country) or your hatelisting will be put on the troubles list. You can offer to show a URL and a favorite/least favorite item but not require them to join.
- You must update your hatelisting at least every two months.
- You must have a “Last updated” date somewhere on your hatelisting.
- You may manage your hatelisting manually or use a script.
- Please keep your information at The Hatelistings Network up to date (hl URL, email, etc).
- Profanities anywhere on the hatelisting (layout, page…) will not be tolerated.
